The society will award annually thirty-five college scholarships in the total amount of $27,500:
|
Five in the sum of $1,200 |
|
Four each in the sum of $1,000 |
|
Ten each in the sum of $700 |
|
Twenty-one each in the sum of $500 |
| Eligibility |
 |
The following qualifications must be met by students applying for scholarships:
| 1. |
Applicants must be members of the S.E.S. for a minimum of two years prior to filling date of scholarship application (February 15) and have premiums paid to date. |

| 2. |
If Applicant belongs to more than one Council, the S.E.S. will accept only one Scholarship Application. |
| |
| 3. |
Applicants must be graduating seniors at time of application or have graduated from high school during the current year. |
| |
| 4. |
Applicants must have maintained a minimum of 3.0 GRADE POINT AVERAGE in their Sophomore, Junior, and first semester of their Senior year of high school verified by official transcript. |

| 5. |
Applicants must meet all requirements of admission set down by the accredited Institution of Higher Education of their choice. |

| 2. |
Accomplishments, Achievements, Activities, and Awards
Using the format provided list all accomplishments, achievements, and activities in which you participated and awards received. Under employment, be sure to include all jobs held during the Sophomore through Senior years. State the average hours worked per week both during the school year and summer separately. If ROP, please state. DO NOT list any names of cities, Festas, groups, organizations, or schools. DO NOT submit copies of awards or project books
The scholarship committee will review only the documentation requested.

Letter of Recommendation
One letter of recommendation on school letterhead from a Principal, Counselor or Dean verifying accomplishments, achievements, activities, and awards. |

| 4. |
Official High School Transcripts
Transcripts must include grades of Sophomore, Junior, and first semester of the Senior year and a "Key" to decode transcripts. Include transcripts from any college classes or tele-courses that you have completed. Transcripts must be received in a sealed envelope from the school. |

| 5. |
Student's Personal Statement
Submit an essay, maximum of two single-sided typewritten pages on plain white paper, explaining your goals, aspirations, accomplishments, and experiences. Include criteria that shows your potential, initiative, and intellectual vitality. |

Please Note
Applications are judged under complete anonymity; therefore, DO NOT list school names, S.E.S. Council, or other identifying information in the text of your essay. Personal information WILL NOT be revealed to the Scholarship Committee.

| 7. |
All required documents MUST BE completed. Only the application and the Cover Page may be handwritten. All other documents must be typewritten or the applicant will be disqualified. |

| 8. |
Application and all documents must be submitted to the S.E.S. Scholarship Committee and postmarked by February 15. |

| 9. |
The Applicant is responsible to assure that his or her application and transcripts have been received at the society's home office. We advise that documentation be sent via Certified Mail, return receipt requested. |
| Basis of Selection |
 |
The Scholarship Committee will review all applications and present their recommendations to the Supreme Board of Directors who will make the final decision in awarding said scholarships. Selection will be based on academic records, other objective measures of achievement, course of study, school service, community service, extracurricular activities, and work experience.
The Scholarship Committee will be reviewing the quality of academic performance relative to the educational opportunities available at the applicant's school as well as any outstanding performance, talent, adversity, or hardship the applicant had to overcome.
| Announcement and Payment of Awards |

All applicants will be notified as soon as possible after the selection process is completed. Upon verification of full-time enrollment from the college or university of attendance, one half of the amount awarded will be forwarded to the student. The second half will be forwarded upon verification of continued full-time enrollment and official verification of satisfactory progress.
It is the recipient's responsibility that verification is forwarded to the S.E.S. home office for payment. NOTE: Scholarship recipients must maintain membership with the S.E.S. until final scholarship payment is disbursed.

Full-time student is defined as taking at least twelve credit hours per semester or as defined by the institution of attendance. |

| 2. |
Satisfactory progress is defined as maintaining a grade point average of 2.0 or better and achieving satisfactory academic progress toward a degree or certificate. |
